Klear Kut is a hip hop group hailing from Kampala, Uganda. The group consists of five members. Da Langman, Navio, J Baller, Tha Mith and Papito the Multi-Lingual. We first formed as a group in August 2000 and starting performing on a regular basis, especially in DV8, a club in KLA. Things took off immediately after that with us guys recording our first hit single "Nothing Wrong With A Little Doe" produced & featuring Steve Jean.
The song had Navio, Langman and J Baller spittin verses and was burning up the radio. And with our banging live performances we soon caught mainstream media attention with articles in national newspapers & television, regional magazines etc... We would also be the only rap group to perform in big shows such as the Club Silk Street Bash.
We also collaborated with First Love by busting some verses for their album Asante. We then met up with� D&D, a production duo in Uganda to work on an album. Now the album took a time to be made. There was off course some conflict of interest with the direction of the album. I was dissapointed that our illest tracks had to be left out in favour of more radio friendly tracks but then again we didnt have control over the album and sadly consumers overlook real hip hop! But no arguing that the album did serve it's purpose!
Nevertheless the album is cool and has its moment (Watcha Gonna Do being my favourite). It is called Mind, Body & Soul. We didnt even come up with that title so go figure. Now you probably asking how comes aint no music to download, well that is because I left UG this summer and I am now in Switzerland and I left a CD copy of the album back home. I got it on tape but I need to wait to recieve the album through post so I can rip it and put it online for y`all to download and listen to some hip hop made in Africa.
Our hip hop is more like normal hip hop. We got a few twists and a highlight is the way Papito spits his verses either in French or Swahili (East Africa's official language). I am going to add more to this page when I get the CD.
Right now Klear Kut is nominated for the 2002 KORA All Africa Awards in the Most Promising Male Group/Artist category..
