| ALL ALONE Alone a small boy sits in the cold wintry night on a rusty old metal park bench. He has no friends, nor family and nobody to love. He is too poor to go to school so his Mum had to teach him how to read and do the basic things. Stevie is too poor to afford new clothes he only owns an old torn T-shirt that his mother had given him before she died. Steves long brown hair is covered with lice, it is all knotty and tangled. It looks like a birds nest. He smells like an old mouldy sandwich that has been left in a school bag for weeks! But it isnt his fault, or his mums if it was anybodys fault it would be the people who were close to his mum and the people she loved and trusted. You see all his mums family and friends abandoned her when she told them she was pregnant, and well for his father he didnt want anything to do with her after he found out so he skipped town. So there she was, alone in the cruel world and she was only 17. She did the best she could and found a job working at McDonalds, which managed to pay at least the rent and a few other essentials like electricity and food. When she died there was no chance for her son Stevie, he was only 10 years of age and had almost no money. His only hope was to find one of his relatives or his father as soon as possible. Two mornings after his mums death Stevie set out to find his dad. The only shred of evidence was his photo from 11 years ago and his name on the back. Roy Freeman he read out loud realizing he was reading his mother elegant handwriting 1980 with his black flamed motor bike (his baby!) After Stevie read the writing on the back of the photo he flipped over to look at the picture there was a guy on his motor bike with long brown hair just like his use to look. He could only see the back of him which didnt help at all, but it was better than nothing he thought. Then he noticed a car lot in the back ground with a blurry sign saying Roy Freemans Motors. First Stevie went to the car lot to see if it was still there. The last time he saw it he was only 5 and he was more interested in looking at other things than a pile of rusty decaying metal. When Stevie got to the car lot a big man came up to him with massive muscles and a bald enormous foot ball shaped head he had a laughable expression on his face as if he thought kids were a joke is there something I could do for you son? The man asked breathing on Stevie with his foul vodka smelling breath. Actually does Roy Freeman work here? Stevie inquisitively asked. Well.. Yes but he only comes in on Tuesdays! the man looked at him angrily with a bit of resentment in his eyes. Well its kind of urgent. So um could you possible tell me his address? Of coarse not, that is strictly confidential. The eyes of the man looked vicious now like the lions at the zoo had done and his voice had a snakes hiss to it. Please! Stevie begged. The man thought long and hard and then agreed. When the man told Stevie the address he had a smirk on his face like he was satisfied with what he had done which made Stevie think it wasnt such a good idea. It was 5.00 in the afternoon when Stevie got to Roys house the sun was about to set and he had just enough energy to knock on the door. When he did a short trimmed hair and nicely dressed man answered the door wearing a blue suit. He looked Stevie up and down and smiled hi how can I help you? the nicely dressed man said kindly Well I believe that you are my um well my dad? the man was rather taken back Oh um you better come in. Your mothers name is Teresa right? Yes I said, well actually was Teresa Ah she changed her name like she always said she would, did she? before he could answer the man had started talking about other things and asking if she wanted some child support for the 10 years that he missed. When Stevie finally got a chance to talk he explained things clearly in his grown up voice and trying to keep a brave face my mum was Teresa but she is dead and she would half kill me if she new that I was here The man looked amazed like when Stevie told him that he was his son. So what now? he asked Well I need food and shelter I dont mean to sound rood but I have no one else to ask everyone else has deserted me The man had a friendly grin on his face when Stevie explained things to him just like the one he had when he answered the door. Well I suppose it would be nice to have company, um, sure you can stay with me Roy said smiling once again. .
