Like races of people, elevators also, hmmm, come in 'races' too... Have you ever bothered to notice this fascinating fact of elevatorness? Here, I have compiled a list of the most common species...
THE GEARLESS TRACTION ELEVATOR
The fastest elevators around. Also the most, hmmm, expensive to install... These are the most intelligent of ye elevator species. However, I find they are very tempermental
prone to getting colds easily, and very cruel to elevators of the lesser species. Oh dear
THE GEARED TRACTION ELEVATOR
The MOST common of all the species, what you see in medium height buildings. Not as sophisticated as a gearless traction elevator, a little more simple in the brain. Easiest of my patients to hohum, cure of their neurotic behaviour.
THE HYDRAULIC ELEVATOR
What you will find in a building of 5 floors or less. They have simple minds and simple designs, but are the butt of jokes from the other species of elevator. By far the most abused of ye elevator. Poor things....
THE, HOHUM, SUBSPECIES....
Here is a Passenger Observation Gearless Traction Elevator (or 3) Very common in tall buildings, these have pretty glass doors for pretty views. They are by far the most, hmmm, difficult of all elevators to deal with. Rude, obnoxious, with really bad attitudes, when you get three of these in row like this, OH DEAR!!! They like to give other elevators a hard time. And, of course, unwitting elevator psychiatrists...
A .I. ELEVATOR (Artifical Intelligence)
The hohum smartest of the lot, noticeable by the screen above the doors in the ceiling that spiels out instructions etc to the elevator operators (how smart!!!) These are also run by fancy computer systems
REPULSARLIFT
The flashest of the flash!!! These go up and down and sideways in zero G shaftways! No cables or counterweights or anything!! Hmmha, my favourite of all elevators, but unfortunately the rarest elevators around...
due to astronomical costs!!!!!
MACHINE ROOMLESS ELEVATOR
The next closest thing to a repulsarlift within normal earthly costs. Still has those steel wires but theres no separate room for the machinery at the top of the shaft. These elevators are probably the easiest to deal with pyschiatric wise.....
