The following information is provided for further understanding of a vital area of Christianity often ignored in mainline religious organizations.  It is not an area to be taken lightly.  However, it should only be pursued by those who are lead to do so by the Lord.

CASTING DEMONS OUT OF YOURSELF (AND OTHERS)
                 A Guide to Self-deliverance

                                                      (Sacramento School of Deliverance)

Do I Have Evil Spirits?  How Can I Tell?

Behavioral symptoms of demonic oppression:
Addictive habits like alcohol, drugs, pornography, sexual lust, homosexual impulses, gluttony, and
   lying
(Ref. I Kings 22:22).
Anger, rage, unreasonableness, jealousy, uncontrolled outbursts of violence, resentment, envy, and
   prideful behavior
(Ref. Mark 5:4, Acts 19:3, and I Sam. 18:10-11).
Cursing, foul language, blasphemy, recurrent unclean thoughts and mental images, and tormenting
   thoughts.
Fears of all kinds which torment, vex, and drive
(Ref. Tim. 1:7).
Occult bondage, and involvement in astrology, fortune telling, spiritism, and the ouija board
(Ref. Acts 16:16, Deut. 18:10, and Acts 13:6).
Opposing the truth of scripture and the work of the Holy Spirit, aversion to the things of God (i.e.,
   communion, fellowship, etc.)
(Ref. Acts 13:8-10 and 16:16).
Religious error, submission to unscriptural doctrines, unnatural eating practices, idolatry, and
   superstitious practices

(Ref. I John 4:1, Romans 14 and I Timothy 4:1-3).
Uncontrollable moods, tension, depression, exhilaration, extreme talkativeness, impatience, and
   nervousness
(note: such feelings may dominate contrary to your own will) (Ref. Matthew 17:15
   and Isaiah 61:3).

Unreasonable impulses to do evil, e.g., murder, rape, suicide, and child molesting
(Ref. Mark 9:22
   and Luke 9:39).

Physical symptoms of demonic oppression include:
Bad breath, frothing and unnatural odors
(Ref. Mark 9:20).
Glazed eyes, large pupils, unnaturally bright or cold eyes, and inability to focus naturally.
Rapid pulse, nausea at odd times, and quick or hyperventilative breathing.
Sickness, infirmities, diseases, and chronic ailments
(Ref. Mark 9:17 and Luke 13:11).
Talking to oneself, restlessness, muttering, insomnia, and fidgeting
(Ref. Mark 5:5).

Note: Any one of these symptoms would not be conclusive evidence that the problem is demonic.
If several of these symptoms persist, however, the possibility of a demonic problem is
     extremely high.

How Do I Begin Self-deliverance?

I.  Be sure that you are a Christian. If you are not sure that you are saved-get saved now!  Evil spirits
are under no obligation to obey a non-Christian.  As a matter of fact, the situation is quite the reverse

(Ref.Acts 19:16 and Matt. 15:26).
      a.
Believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross and rose from the dead

(Ref. Acts 4:10, John 19:16-18, and Luke 24:3).
      b.
Admit that you are a sinner and confess your sins (all of them at once) to Jesus

(Ref. John 1:9-10 and Rom. 2:23).
      c.
Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to come into your heart (Ref. Rom. 8:11 and John 14:17).
      d.
Give your life to Jesus and be willing to repent of everything that offends Him

(Ref. I John 3:16 and II Cor. 5:17).
      e.  If you have followed these steps and have been sincere in your heart, then you are ready for
           the next step.

II.  Forgive everyone of all offenses (Ref. Matthew 6:14-15 and 18:34-35). If you are not sure
that you have forgiven those who have hurt or offended you ask God in prayer to show you who
you need to forgive.  When He shows you, which He will, then forgive each person by name, i.e.,

"I forgive __________ for ___________."  Don't forget to forgive yourself, or even God.  This is
very, very important.  If you don't forgive, the Devil can and will stay and torment you

(Ref. Matt. 18:34, Mark 11:25-26, and II Cor. 2:10-11).

III.  Know your authority:
      a.  Jesus gives all his children complete authority over the Devil and his demons
(Ref. Luke 10:19,
           Matt. 10:1, and Matt. 28:18-20).

      b.  The Devil must obey every Blood-washed believer
(Ref.  Phil. 2:9-11, Eph. 1:19 and Mark
           16:17).

      c.  You have all power over the Devil in Christ.  Look up these scriptures and you will find
           everything that you need.
