I was on hill 861 Alpha at Khe Sanh in 1968. Hill 861 was right above us. I
thought Mike 3/26 was up there at the same time. I dont remember 3/3 being
there. Perhaps 861 was in another part of Vietnam.
Thanks, Jim

I served with MSTSOV, Vung Tau. I was in-country May69 to May 70. We were attacked 26OCT69 by rockets. KIA: LCDR Paul E. Wall, OIC MSTSOV, Vung Tau. Looking for Art Huntington, SK3 (WIA), RM2 John Rife, LT Daigh and anybody that remembers me: "PJ" then a seaman. I also was @ 93rd evac for 24 days, Long Binh. Finished in fine style on light duty in Saigon and remember many people there. I want to reach someone who remembers me, or was with the MSTSOV. Seems like Im the only one around these days... Thanks Dave, Im so sorry for your loss.

What an honor it was to share a little of this young mans life. My heart goes out to his family and friends. My husband was in Vietnam and was one of the lucky ones to come home. Another very good frind of mine "Denny LaNore" was a marine and was killed in Vietnam in 1966. I remember it so well. We had a airline strike here in the United States and it took Dennys body over two weeks to be brought home. I have much love for the Veternas of this country and the sacrifices they made. I am one who CHOOSES never to forget what they have done for us. Recently I started a list for Veterans Wives Family & Friends in hopes of being of help to someone. We are the ones who stayed behind waiting for our loved ones return. The list is only a week old but hope in time it will grow so we can reach out and help one another. Keep up the great work and God Love You.

WHY? Why must freedom require such a heartbreaking sacrifice? Is freedom worth the deaths of our youngest, our best?? I'm not so sure anymore!!

In reference to Jim Carmichaels comments 10 Jan 00, Ill bet were talking about the same Hill 861, but at a different time. Dale was killed in the first assult on 861 in "The First Battle for Khe Sanh". Does Jim think the only time any of us were on 861 was when he was up there? Read your history books. Semper Fi.

I was with Bravo 1/9 Feb67 to march68 and wish we could have stopped what happened. We had humped those hills (861 and 881) many times on patrol, and then it seems overnight the NVA were there. As our patrols were maybe Eight Marines at most our fate was always the same. Not enough
men and time. I am sorry.

Your web-site is a great tribute to your brother.I know it has given you a sence of fulfillment in trying to take care of him,and tell his story. I was in Kilo3/3/3 in 1969.I was in 1st. Plt. and on Sept. 15,69 we were told to check out a hill on Mutters Ridge for enemy movement when we walked into a ambush.Out of the 48 Marines with us,we took 42 casualties.5 or 6 dead and the rest wounded.1st. Plt. suddenly dropped down to 6 men,and we joined up with the rest of our Co..
In the past year I have been able to locate about 15 of us from 1st. Plt.. Were getting together in Winchester,Va. on the 15th. and 16th. of July,00.It will be our first Reunion in 30 years. It should be a good one!! If you would like info. about the Reunion, please let me know.
Im really sorry about your brother.I pray the GOOD LORD will give you peace ,and comfort you concerning your brother.
Sincerely
Ray Clark

We were an Air Force family during the terrible war. Lost a cousin at the Tet
offensive. Saw many service people leave for the war....and many come home with
tales that no one will ever forget. Bless the men and women like Dale who went
and did as they were ordered to do, and paid the ulitmate price. Bless the
families who never got to see them again....but we know that they will some
day....

Im so impressed with what youve done here! Youve treated your brother and the rest of us with such respect. Thank You! I cried as I saw the faces and reviewed the names from that time long ago that I remember as yesterday. Ive often wondered what happened to Bobby Alexander, a chicken farmer from down south, who was hit by a mortar on a sweep outside ConTien in Nov 67. The Doc told me he was alive when they put him in the chopper,...I found out this morning he didnt make it,...and Ive cried some more. It took me twenty some years before I could shed some tears and now im making up for lost time. Charlie Neal was in guns with me and was supposed to go on R&R but he and I switched so he could meet his wife in Hawaii later. I went to Japan for 7 days and he went up 861,...he left the hill in a body bag. I always wanted to tell his wife she was all he talked about. He was one hell of a nice guy.

Your website was very moving and all too familiar. I had a difficult time trying
to read through all of it because of the memories. I was a Navy Corpsman with
Lima Co 3/3 from Nov.68 to Oct.69, based out of Quang Tri and Con Thien.Welcome
back home to those who made it and I pray for those who didnt.
