Weekly Practice Updates

I decided to keep track of my basketball practice on this website. Every week, I decided to do something different and with the help of my uncle, he was able to help me train and work on what I needed to work on the most.

Week 1

This week, I started to practice with my uncle every Saturday. I mainly focused on my shot since I was really have a hard time with my form. He was previosly examining my form and taught me a different approach than I was use too. I have continued to practice this form, however, it is very dificult since I have to use my legs more than my arms. Also, he started to teach me how to better control my dribbling. I will be practicing how to dribble by dribbling a raquetball. This will help me with my dribbling since I will get use to dribbling a smaller ball than usual. Then, when I switch to the baektball, a much larger ball, it will be easier for me to control.

Week 2

For this week, I decided to use the Homecourt app. It is an app that interacts with my ball and body and requires me to touch certain targets. This has really helped my dribbling since it makes me focus on targets, while I am dribbling too. I also have been able to practice with the raquetball, but it is somewhat difficult since I am not use to such a small ball. I have been working on the new technique that my uncle showed me, and it has dramatically changed my shot. My aim has improved so much and I am more likely to make it in. However, I still can't shoot that far since I still need to get used to it.

Week 3

This week I have really focused on my shot and have been trying to improve it with the new form that my uncle taught me. He will record me and with the recording we can see what looks good and what I need to work on. I am struggling with using my legs, since I normally use mostly my arms. I am not bend my legs very much and don't jump nearly as high as I can normally. I focused very little on dribbling this week since I want to get my shot down.

Week 4

I was able to focus on both my shot and dribbling this week. I have been able to jump a lot higher and further with my shot, which has helped me improve my distance. I have also been dribbling the raquetball which has helped me with my dribbling. For a practice technique this week, my uncle would throw me a tennis ball while I was dribbling to help me work on my dribbling. He stated that dribbling should become a natural instinct and that I should be able to do it without even thinking or worrying about it.

Week 5

I believe I can easily say that this is the most difficult week. I had attempted to do the 1,000 shot challenge. It's a challenge where I try to make 1,000 shots in 1 day. I started at 8 in the morning and got up to 760 shots by around noon. I got pretty close to making all my shots, but the court I was using was reserved later on in the day. I ended up completing the rest of my shots the next day. The most difficult part about the 1,000 shot challenge was that I had to be constantly running and moving and it got really tiring after a while. The further I got into making my shots, the faster I would get tired. This is something that I for sure want to try again and actually make 1,000 shots in one day.
