My Favorites

The Mortal Instruments

One of my favorite series is the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. It is based partially on angel vs demon lore. There are Shadowhunters which are part angel and fight demons. The Mortal Instruments is a favorite of mine, but the spin offs of the series are the real gems in my opinion. The spin offs include: The Infernal Devices, I absolutely adored that series! It is set in the late 1800’s and has awesome victorian vibes. The Dark Artifices is also great. It’s much more modern and has another epic love story. The Dark Artifices has amazing side characters, my favorite of which are going to have a series where they are the main characters! That series will be called The Wicked Powers and I am beyond excited for it to come out in 2022! I’ve already been waiting a year for it, and some have been waiting longer. I can’t wait! Some other spin off series are The Last Hours, which is set around 20 years after The Infernal Devices. I haven’t read that one yet, but the first book is out and I really need to read it. The Eldest Curses is also great, I’ve only read the first book in that series, but 2 out of the three have been published so far. All of these books are so good!

The Cruel Prince

Another great series is The Cruel Prince. It was written by Holly Black and it is really good. It centers around a world of the fae, faeries, or fair folk. It is really interesting. It is only a three book series but there are other books written by that author and a few of them connect to The Cruel Prince. Such as, How the King of Elfhame learned to Hate Stories, the new book that consists of short stories about Cardan. I really enjoyed this series, it got me out of a book slump. If you have read The Mortal Instruments series and enjoyed it, you will most likely like this series. It has action, romance, betrayal, poison, assasination plots, faerie revels, cruelty, family drama, callousness, and royalty. It has a bit of everything. There is a lot of faerie lore as well. Faerie is such an awesome world that I loved exploring in these books. The Mortal Instruments gives some background on the fae, but this series really dives in deep. It was really enjoyable and a great read. I definitely recommend this series.
