Brooks Pilgrim

Brooks,
a native of Carbonear Newfoundland, is acting as the Aquaculture planner
for Coastal Zone Canada 2004 Youth Forum while currently working towards
his Masters in Marine Studies (Fisheries Resource Management) at
Memorial University of Newfoundland. He also holds an Advanced Diploma
in Aquaculture from the Marine Institute of Memorial University of
Newfoundland and Natural Resource Management from the College of the
North Atlantic.
Brooks
has gained valuable experience in the fields of Natural Resource
Management, Fisheries, Aquaculture and Coastal Zone Management through
employment with agencies such as: Department of Fisheries and Oceans,
Science Branch (BIO, Dartmouth, N.S.), Development Officer & Marine
Species Specialist (Aquaculture, Commercial and Under-utilized
Fisheries) for the Coast of Bays Corporation (St. Alban’s,
Newfoundland), Biological Field Technician
for Acadian Seaplants Ltd. (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia), Project
Biologist/Coordinator for the Department of Fisheries and
Aquaculture/Lower Trinity South Development Corporation and with Parks
Canada (Terra Nova National Park, Newfoundland) as a Resource
Conservation Assistant.
Brooks
currently volunteers on a number of committees including: Working Group-Coastal
Zone Canada Youth Forum, Review Committee-Master of Marine Studies
(Coastal Zone Management),
Graduate Committee-Master of Marine
Studies (Fisheries Resource Management),
and the Board of Directors–Memorial
University Graduate Students Union. Previously he has volunteered on
committees such as: Aquaculture
Advisory Representative-Coast of
Bays Board of Directors, and Steering Committee-Coast
of Bays Coastal Zone Management Project, and acted as Technical
Advisor-Catfish and Tilapia
Aquaculture for Ghudali Farms Ltd., Nigeria, Africa, to
name a few.
