Moon Phases

The Moon is a symbol for the triple goddess- Maiden, Mother and Crone. Also the Moon is representative of feminine powers of intuition and magick.
NEW MOON
The triple goddess is represented in the moons three aspect, and the new moon typifies the virgin strength of the maiden. While the moon is new, its power is embryonic, but any spell that is cast will be sure to increase in strength along with the moon. A time to reflect and cast spells for growth and regeneration.
THE WANING MOON
When the visible part of the moon shrinks from full to dark.A good time for spells of banishing, release or cleansing.
THE WAXING MOON
The period when the visible part of the moon grows for dark to full. A good time for spells of growth and Increase.
FULL MOON
The time when the moon is perfectly round. A point of lunar power when witches traditionally gathered to work magick for healing and abundance and to celebrate the Goddess.
The Full Moon represents the maiden at the peak of her fertility. This is the time when the moon is at the height of its strength and an ideal time to cast spells and perform rituals for fulfilment and completion. The full moon is a traditional time when coven meet for esbats to perform magick.
THE DARK OF THE MOON
The Dark of the Moon is the time where the moon appears to be powerless, and represents the time of the Crone.
The Dark of the moon occurs when the sun and the moon rise and set at the same time. This phenomon renders the moon invisible for three (3) days and nights. Astral energies are less stable during this time as the moons power is being held back, just waiting to be released.
There is great potential energy during the dark of the moon. It is better to postpone magickal workings until the moon becomes visible again.
However it is a Wonderful time to cast a circle for meditation, or for the purpose of diving the future. Use this phase to look at performing activities which you wish to germinate emergence of dreams. This is a great time to prepare and plan rituals.
The Dark Moon results in the birth of the New Moon.
