I would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this past week. It has been a rough one and everyone is greatly appreciated. I would also like to thank those who sent flowers to the hospital and visited me while I was there - how sweet. I loved them.
I made a journey to my office and I was so happy to see everyone. However the excersion did a little more damage than I had figured on. I am experienceing more swelling and I pulled a hip muscle from swinging my leg in order to get in and out of the car. Oh, well. Lesson learned.
I have Lloyd out on a mission to get me something to read. Hopefully he will return with something to keep me occupied. While my Mom was down from Virginia we watched a couple videos: March Of The Penguins, National Treasure, Sahara, and Nanny McPhee.
Anyway, I haven't been able to do much, so I obviously don't have much to report. I ask all of you to please keep in touch with me while I am recouperating. It is always so nice to hear from you all. My first doctor appointment with Dr. Burke, the orthopedic, is on May 26th. Then I see the neurosurgeon about my back on June 1st. I will be sure to let you all know what I find out. In the meantime, keep me in your thoughts and prayers - I need all the help I can get :)
Love

Well, I can now sing the song of the fortunates. On Tuesday, May 9th on the way in to work I lost the brakes on my van and had a very bad accident. I was going north on Missouri Ave on my wat to work (and had no problems up to that point). Then the light at Druid turned red. I put on my brakes and nothing happened. I put even more pressureon the brakes and still nothing. There was no traffic next to me so I decised to cut across three lanes and enter an abandoned gas station. I was more concerned with not hitting anyone else that I wasn't overly worried about me in an abandoned gas station. Well, I hit one of the support poles going about 40 mph. I staggered out of the van thinking only of calling 911. I did and the operator asked me where I was at - my mind was blank. Luckily a woman named April had stopped to check on me and I asked her to tell them where I was at. She took over the phone until the ambulance arrived and then she made another call at my request. She was my lifeline. I don't know where I would be if she wasn't kind enough to stop - and if anyone knows who this lady is - or has heard of a lady who stopped - please let me know. I would like to give her a proper thank you for being my Guaridain Angel.
The damage report is not as bad as it could have been. I have a broken leg and severed tendon in my left knee/leg. I have a very deep laceration on my right knee. I have severe brusing on my abdomen, arms and chest. And I have a broken back. Lukily it is only broken in one place and I do not have any spinal damage.
Well, here's the part you have all been waiting for - the van photos.

Well, I finished "Invitation To A Funeral" and it was really great. I pretty much figured out part of the mystery but not the other part. Just enough to keep the reader interested. I also read a book by Dylan Thomas called "A Child's Christmas in Wales". I am still undecided on this one. I thought it was a little too short to really give people an understanding of the material. I guess it seemed a little disjointed to me.
Not too much going on in the video area of my life. I have been thoroughly enjoying the series Red Dwarf that we got from Netflix. Plus -- they made a MOVIE!!! I have to see that! I just found it on the official website for Red Dwarf (above). How great is that? I am really looking forward to "An American Haunting" which opened this weekend. We will probably wait a few weeks so as to avoid the majority of the crowds.
Cyra and Beaker Loki Addacat are both doing well. I'll have to try to find some pics to post.
Otherwise I have been spending the majority of my time working and sleeping. Ever since I got off caffine I have been so tired all the time. Hopefully, that will not continue for much longer. One of the ladies from work and I have decided to do Weight Watchers together. She used to go to the meetings and everything until she developed cancer and had to go through chemo. Neither of us can afford to actually attend - so we are using the materials she had received previously and are doing it ourselves. It's nice to have someone pushing you and interested and concerned about the the outcome and, more importantly, if you stick to it. And I've already lost two pounds!
All my love.
