HISTORY
CYPRESS VALLEY FARMS
Be careful what you wish for, it may come true.

In 1991 I realized my lifelong dream,  I bought a horse.  With my new friend came along a lifestyle change along with a lot more reponsibility and the opportunity to meet new friends.  Almost immediately I met and quickly became friends with Sue Hartz, little did I know the crazy situations Sue would get me involved in.

Around 1994 Sue saw some pygmy goats a mutual friend of ours owned and had to have one, and even though I thought they were cute I stated "they're cute but not something I would want to get into."
Boy, did I have to eat my words.

In November 1996 some brush goats were born at our barn and one of the mother's wouldn't let her little buckling nurse, Sue decided to take him in to bottle raise him and wether him.  Well it wasn't long before I stopped by her barn and saw my future, I just fell in love with this little defenseless creature and held him in my jacket with his little head poked out where he fell fast asleep.  That's it, my heart was gone, I just had to have him.  My heart fell when Sue told me another friend of ours had already claimed him, but if that didn't work out then he would be mine.  Well Billy Jack cried so much he drove Sue and Tammy Jo crazy and he soon became mine.  Not long after that his sister, Billy Jean, became my second herd member.

Still satisfied with my brush goats I made the mistake of going to a pygmy goat show where I saw and fell in love with these little creatures.  Not only were these little goats great but the people were some of the nicest I had ever met.  I felt like I had known them for years.

The following Christmas, Wanna-B-Goats Groucho, a pygmy wether, joined the herd as a Christmas present to my daughter, Trisha.

After 2 years I finally decided on my herd name, I wanted to get the right name and I had thought long and hard.  I wanted to have a name that would go along with Hartz Valley Farms, Sue's herd name, since we share a pen and travel to the shows together.  Finally, Cypress Valley Farms was born.

Christmas 1999 gave me my buck, Hartz Valley Farms Clint Black, as my herd sire.  He was my present from Sue since she would always catch me rocking and singing him to sleep.  I had absolutely fallen in love with  him.

A year later brought Candy Store Sparkles, then Oakwood's Maxima, then Gracie from Petite Paradise.

Most recently I purchased Petite Paradise Freddy's Fortune from Andy and Heidi Spell to be my new herd sire.  If he turns out half as nice as his sire, PGCH The Cajun Funny Farms Ready Freddy, then I'll be happy.

I then brought in Raby's Hillside Acres McKenzie (from Sue Hartz) and Desert Wind Raindrop (from Stacy Hamilton - Red Rock Hills).

Not a very big herd but I'm satisfied, for the moment at least.  As I stated at the beginning,
be careful what you wish for it may come true!
