NORTH CAROLINA TRIP

This a wonderful place to visit. Barbara and I finally got a chance to take our first vacation after 18 years of being self-employed. We sold our auto salvage yard in 1998 and where ready to hit the road. We decided to take the motorcycle and head to NC. It was a wonderful trip. I would like to share it with you.

Every good bike trip to North Carolina begains at Deal's Gap. The bike is a 1994 Honda Goldwing, one of the most dependable road bikes on the road today. It just simply does not give any trouble. We started out from the little town of Murphy NC that morning and made the short run up to Deals Gap. It took us about an hour. We stopped for pictures naturally. Notice the short sleeves shirts and short pants. It was a absolutely gorgeous morning.

The trip through Deals Gap involves many hairpin curves. The biker's love it. There are some 318 mountian curves in eleven miles of road. The fastest speed we where able to safely obtain was about 45 on one of two "short" strait-a-ways.  Some claim to have made the eleven mile run in eleven minutes, I have my doubt's...(kinda like some of the family fish story's)...... I don't recomend this route for RV's of any type.............

After you emerge from Deals Gap (Hwy 129) on the west side you are in Tenn. We then turned south into the Blue Ridge Mountians. We looked on the map and decided to try Cherohala Senic Skyway and run back into NC. I highly recommend it, Bike, Car, RV.  I do however caution on one thing. Do you notice how Barbara has her arms crossed. It's not because I would not let her drive.     For the rest of the the NC bike trip, click the next button
