Marcus Vitruvius Pollio, c. 70-25 BCE

Vitruvius was a Roman architect and engineer during the first century BCE. He wrote extensively on the subject of technology including ten books on architecture, De architectura. In addition to advancements in architecture and engineering, he contributed to thinking in the areas of astronomy, medicine, music and the arts. Click the picture to read De architectura.
