Cycloptic Pegasus' Opinion Page
the following are just a few of my thoughts and feelings on topics that surround us today:
*discrimination- i think that this is just an act of stupidity. Anyone who will judge and/or exclude someone from their life due to a small difference should be shipped off to an island to live a life in solitude to see if they enjoy the silence.
*high school shootings- this is a very touchy subject right now, and i can understand why. A bunch of high school students, who are trying to figure out where they belong in the world are going on a shooting rampage to, i guess leave their mark in life. I think that the news, not the movies or music of today, should be penalized for this. I say this because if it wasn't for all of the coverage of the shootings, and all of the publicity, i don't think there would have been so many deaths.
*the debate of capital punishment- i'm against the killing of anyone, no matter how severe the act to deserve punishment.
*child abuse- i think that anyone who hits a child out of anger has a major problem.
*child molestation- this, I think, is one of the worst things you could ever do in your life. I don't understand how a person could be so mentally out there, that they need to use a defenseless child for a play toy, the thought just boggles the mind.
* teen pregnancy- this is a tough one for me, because i grew up in a baby-boomer town, and a few of my teen-aged friends have children...i don't encourage pre-marital sex, but it's out there, and i do, however encourage the use of condoms due to the fact that you'll never know what you'll get and only takes that one time to effect you for the rest of your life.
*unprotected sex- to those of you who have many partners and don't use a condom, i would just like to say that your ignorance doesn't just effect you, but it effects everyone you are around. You may not infect all those people that you know, but if you were to die from whatever you have contracted, you effect them also.
