Bikes, Trains, Pains and Gains
Another year, another trip, and another website.

This year, however, the site will be slightly different. Not just photos with just brief descriptions, but instead, more of a journal, with what I hope will be interesting, and sometimes amusing anecdotes

Why the change? Blame a gentleman named Tim Moore. Better still blame his
excellent book 'French Revolutions' in which he recounts his journey cycling the route of the Tour de France - extremely funny and a great read.

I would not even attempt to suggest that I could match Mr Moore's incomparable style and extensive vocabulary, but my cycling colleague, Paul, and I do experience some interesting times and events on our annual travels 'a bicyclette'.
Having enjoyed 'French Revolutions' so much, I felt the urge (quite painless, thankfully) to try my own hand at recounting our travels and the funnier situations we encounter.

This year saw us taking a different approach with our cycling as well. With only five days available, we decided to cycle back from our proposed destination after taking bikes and selves there by French railway, using the regional 'ter' service that offers free transport for cycles on a number of their routes. But then, as you might have guessed, being a company at the centre of French bureaucracy, it was never going to be that straightforward....

To get started,
just click on 'Calais' on the map alongside, and enjoy the ride!!
Day 1: Train from Calais to Abbeville, then cycle to Behens
Day 2: Cycle from Behens to Le Treport via Eu and then back to Behens
Day 3: Cycle from Behens to St Valery and on to Rue, ending at Villers sur Authie
Day 4: Cycle from Villers sur Authie to Samer via Etaples
Day 5: Cycle from Samer to lunch at Wierre Effroy, then Calais and finally home
