Cyberstar Idol is an online singing competition similar to the likes of X Factor and Idol. Singers first record an acapella (no backing music) piece which is sent to a special email address. The judges will critique these recordings, offering constructive comments, and will be the ones to decide whether or not the singer deserves to progress through to the next round of the competition. Following the auditions a number of singers will be called back to record a second song, this time with a backing track. Once again, the judges will comment on these, and the top 10 will be rewarded a place in the finals. Here's where things get interesting

The Top 10 finalists will be put to the test each week, as they will have to select a song relevant to a specific theme. The judges will still be available to critique the performances, but this time it's down to the viewers to vote, via a poll on the website. In a special results show the lowest-polling singer will be announced and will be eliminated from the show. This continues until 2 singers remain, and 1 is voted as the winner.

The winner receives an online album compiling their competition recordings, and free promotion of their music via a partner website.
