Sunbright

Hybrid Tea 4'

Seedling x 'New Day'

Bright yellow slightly fragrant 28 petals, 4" blooms. Upright growth.

JACJEL : Warriner, 1984

The blooms on 'Sunbright' certainly live up to their name. They are produced abundantly all summer long on a healthy, vigorous bush. The yellow blooms do not fade or become stippled with pink polka dots with age and they have just a hint of fragrance. The color is a good clear yellow without any "peachy-amber-gold' tones. Probably not a good exhibition subject because the form is not "perfect" but makes a good cut flower for your vase. (Think "florist-type" yellow rose)

Excellent disease resistance but not very cold hardy, a problem common to yellows. Rated to zone 6, it is definitely winter tender so be advised if you live in cold winter areas that adequate protection is essential. 'Sunbright' is worth the effort in my opinion, though. Such a lovely shade of yellow, it has become my favorite yellow rose. Really puts on a show of blooms.

ARS Rating: 7.0
