Pascali

Hybrid Tea 4-5'

'Queen Elizabeth' x 'White Butterfly'

Crystal white, 30 petals with pleasant fragrance, vigorous bushy growth.

LENIP : Lens, 1963; AARS Winner 1969; World Rose Hall of Fame 1991

'Pascali' is touted as the white that all other white roses are compared to. Unlike most whites, it's pure white petals remain free of those pink polka dot splotches when it rains. An excellent cut flower and good exhibition subject with fragrance to boot.

Blooms have tended to be rather small and will "burn" easily in hot weather so keep this one well-watered. Blackspot will attack this rose if not given consistent spraying. 'Pascali' is tender and needs winter protection.

Every report I see just gushes with the good attributes of this rose, but I cannot seem to grow it at all. I have tried twice and failed, much to my bewilderment. The first time I reasoned that I just got a "bad" plant so I mail-ordered from a quality source. After a disappointing summer, it succumbed to our Indiana winter. Is it me or the plant? I plan to give it one more shot before giving up. Despite my experiences, I believe that this must be a good rose because too many people are growing it and loving it.

ARS Rating: 8.1
