Oklahoma

Hybrid Tea 5' - 7' x 4'

'Chrysler Imperial' x 'Charles Mallerin'

Swim & Weeks, 1964

Large dark red velvety blooms with strong rose fragrance. 48 petals on 5" blooms produced singly on long stems.

'Oklahoma' is a deep reddish-maroon with some of the strongest fragrance to be found in roses. The blooms are high-centered with classic form and can be larger than 5 inches. 'Oklahoma' will grow to six or seven feet and have the best form and color in warmer climates. Disease resistance is generally good, although mildew and blackspot may attack without a spray program. Foliage is dull green and leathery. Growth habit is upright, vigorous, and bushy. Blooms open very quickly and do not last long.

Of special note is that 'Oklahoma' shares same parentage as 'Mr. Lincoln' and 'Papa Meilland'.

ARS Rating: 6.3
