Hybrid Tea 3 1/2' Seedling x 'White Queen' Clear White Flowers: Double, High Centered, 48 Petals, Fragrant: Licorice Boerner, 1965 Also known as: J F K, President J F Kennedy The candy-sweet fragrance and gardenia-like appearance of the flowers set this rose apart from other whites. Medium green foliage is fairly disease resistant requiring just an occasional shot of spray to prevent blackspot. Plant is covered in blooms that are borne mostly singly and in small clusters. Growth habit is upright V-shaped. In my book, this one is a "must have" as far as white roses are concerned. Good for arrangements, it lasts several days as a cut flower giving a soft, sweet fragrance to the room. 'John F. Kennedy' has been a fairly trouble-free rose that I personally prefer over 'Pascali' (a much applauded rose that I just cannot seem to grow). This rose continually rewards me with blooms all summer long with very little attention. A great garden rose with my only complaint being that rain will spot the petals. It weathers winter with little protection. Form is inconsistent for exhibition so this may explain the somewhat low ARS rating. ARS Rating: 6.0 |
