'Heritage' is one of the great English roses, named for the purity of color and the old rose perfection of its blooms. The blooms display such grace and loveliness that this rose's praises are sung by many. A vigorous grower, this rose blooms freely all season long. Disease resistance is good although mildew and rust may be an occasional problem. The canes have very few thorns and the foliage is very resistant to blackspot. The growth habit is essentially very bushy, but the canes will grow well past 6 feet tall if allowed.

Everyone seems to rate this rose very highly and only mention its best qualities, but something to be aware of is that the blooms on this rose are very fragile. If just slightly disturbed, all the petals will drop off the flower. It does not make a good cut flower or exhibition subject for this reason. It can also create quite a mess in the garden with all of the dropped petals. The fragrance is so strong that I would try to bring bouquets of 'Heritage' indoors, only to have a pile of petals lying around the vase in a matter of hours. This is another rose I would recommend for training on a pillar because it does grow very tall. Even here in Zone 5, I am constantly struggling to keep this rose's growth in check.
