Betty Boop

Introduced: 1999, Carruth

Parentage: 'Playboy' x 'Picasso'

Class: Floribunda

Flowers: ivory-yellow w/ red edges, 4" blooms, 6-12 petals

Size: 3' bushy and vigorous

Fragrance: moderate, fruity

AARS Winner 1999

'Betty Boop' is covered with clusters of ivory flowers with red edges. Buds are semi-double consisting of six to twelve petals. Fragrance is sweet and fruity. Growth is medium-tall; foliage is red when young, maturing to dark green.

This rose provides continuous color in the garden since it blooms profusely all season long. Growth habit is rounded like a shrub. This has been one of my best performers this year despite the Japanese beetles, blackspot, and oppressive heat. I am very impressed and plan to replace a couple of roses that are my poorer performers with this one next year.

*Introduced by Weeks Roses, 'Betty Boop' is named in honor of the cartoon character.
