First Generation

Daniel NEWCOMB was born 1742 Hampshire Co., VA. He served as a captain during the Revolutionary War. He was an elder in the Dunkard Church. In 1793 he moved to Fleming Co., KY and died there in 1821. He was married to a woman named Judah.

Second Generation

The children of Daniel and Judah Newcomb were:

(1) William NEWCOMB born 14 Feb 1774 Hampshire Co., VA. In Feb 1790 he received 84 acres from John and Elizabeth Constant on the Great Capaceon, Hampshire Co., VA. In Aug 1792 he sold the same tract back to John Constant and moved to Fleming Co., KY. In 1816 he entered land in Monroe Co., IN. He moved to Edgar Co., IL before 1830 and then to Dewitt Co., IL where he died 16 Jan 1844. He married 12 Jan 1790 Berkeley Co., VA to Jane CONSTANT (1770-1829), the daughter of John and Sarah Constant.

(2) Nancy NEWCOMB married to William Scott.

(3) Mary NEWCOMB died in Sangamon Co., IL. She was the wife of Samuel LITTLE.

(4) Thomas NEWCOMB was born 1782 VA. He died 1850 in Fleming Co., KY. He was married in 1800 to Jane or Giney CUHERN.

(5) Margaret NEWCOMB married 18 Aug 1814 Fleming Co., KY to Joseph SCOTT.

(6) Daniel NEWCOMB born 1779 or 1783 Hampshire Co., VA. He settled in Edgar Co., IL by 1827. He married 18 Apr 1809 Fleming Co., KY to Ann COCHRAN.

(7) Judah NEWCOMB married 24 Sep 1804 Fleming Co., KY to Abiah DILLIN (DILLONS)

(8) Charles NEWCOMB died 24 Apr 1814 Edgar Co., IL age about 30 years. He married 13 Jun 1807 Fleming Co., KY to Elizabeth L. WOOD.

(9) Elizabeth NEWCOMB married first to Joseph THOMPSON and next 18 Mar 1813 Fleming Co., KY to Jacob STEELE.

(10) Hannah NEWCOMB married 31 Oct 1811 Fleming Co., KY to Samuel CRANE or CRAIN.

Third Generation

The children of William Newcomb and Jane Constant were:

(1) Juda NEWCOMB born 1776-1794. She married before 1830 to Louis JACKSON.

(2) Sarah NEWCOMB bor 27 Feb 1794 Berkeley Co., VA. She died in Edgar Co., IL. She married to John HAYES and Ebenezer DAVID.

(3) Margaret NEWCOMB was born 1796 Berkeley Co., VA and died in Edgar Co., IL She married 18 Aug 1814 Feleming Co., KY to John WILSON.

(4) Mary "Polly" NEWCOMB was born 16 Dec 1798 Fleming Co., KY. She married 3 May 1834 to John COPPENBARGER (1795-1869).

(5) Daniel NEWCOMB was born about 1800. He resided in Edgar and Dewitt Cos., IL and moved to Oregon by 1853. In 1854 he became the Governor of Oregon. He married circa 1830 to Elenor or Caroline RICE, the daughter of Daniel Rice.

(6) Susan NEWCOMB was born 13 Aug 1802 Berkeley Co., VA. She married 7 Mar 1822 Monroe Co., IN to Thomas ALLSUP (1802-1862).

(7) Jane L. NEWCOMB was born 15 Feb 1807 Berkeley Co., VA. She married first 2 Feb 1826 to Baron T. LOWRY and second 13 Nov 1870 to Joshua KNIGHT.

(8) Hannah NEWCOMB was born 11 June 1813 Berkeley Co., VA. She married Apr 1849 to William WATSON.

(9) Ruth NEWCOMB born 1807 Berkeley Co., VA. She died in Logan Co., IL. She was the wife of William MOORE.

(10) Elizabeth NEWCOMB born 1814 Berkeley Co., VA. She died 5 Nov 1848 in Dewitt Co., IL. She married Jan 1846 to William WATSON.
