MELYN FAMILY
The Melyn family from Antwerp, lived in the Rue du Sac, Antwerp, in or near the Bourg or Castle, which was a fortified enclosure on the east bank of the River Scheldt, built before the middle of the sixth century.

(3) JACQUES MELYN married Jossine VAN DICKELE.
(1) Lambert MELYN born before 1580. He married to Catherine De Pape. Their children were Jacques, Gilles, Andre, Henri and Theodore Melyn.
(2) Abraham MELYN born circa 1581, baptized 14 Aug 1589 Parish of Notre Dame, Antwerp, son of Jeanne. He married 16 Jan 1607 Parish of Notre Dame, Antwerp, to Martine MATTHYSSENS. Their children were Catherine, Baltasar, Jean, Jeanne, Andre, Claire, Pierre, Jean, Theordore and Christine. His second wife was Marie VAN MERHEM by whom he had Andre and Corneille.
(3) Petronille MELYN born circa 1584, baptized 14 Aug 1589 Parish of Notre Dame, Antwerp, daughter of Jeanne.
(4) Isaac MELYN baptized 14 Aug 1589 Parish of Notre Dame, Antwerp, son of Jeanne.
(5) Jacques MELYN born about 1586. Married 15 Feb 1609 Parish of Notre Dame, Antwerp to Marie GEERAERTS. They had Jeanne, Helene, Francois, Andre, Jean, Henri, Jacques, and Abraham Melyn.
(6) Cornelie MELYN baptized 18 Mar 1590 Parish of Notre Dame, Antwerp, daughter of Jeanne.
(7) Suzanne MELYN (1) baptized 6 Sep 1592 Parish of Notre Dame, Antwerp, daughter of Jeanne. She died before 1692.
(8) and (9) Josine and Marie MELYN, twin daughters of Jeanne, baptized 1 Jan 1594, Parish of Notre Dame, Antwerp.
(10) Josine MELYN, daughter of Jeanne, baptized 16 Mar 1595 Parish of Notre Dame, Antwerp. She died before 6 Mar 1606.
(11) Eustache MELYN, son of Jeanne, baptized 24 Oct 1596 Parish of Saint Andre, Antwerp.
(12) Jean (aka Hans) MELYN, son of Marie Baetkens, baptized 28 Mar 1599 Saint Walburge Parish, Antwerp.
(13) Corneille (Cornelius) MELYN, son of Marie Botens, baptized 17 Sep 1600, Saint Walburge Parish, Antwerp. He lived with his half-brother Abraham Melyn after his parents died circa 1606 and was later apprenticed as a tailor. He was one of the patroons of Staten Island and later moved to New Haven, CT. He married 1627 in Amsterdam to Janneken ADRIAENS from Myert, Province of N. Brabant, Netherlands. She stayed in the Netherlands while Cornelis traveled to and from America and did not come until 17 May 1641. She died 1674 in New Haven. Cornelis and Janneken were the parents of eleven children.
(14) Susanne MELYN (2), daughter of Marie Guedinx, baptized 1 Sep 1602 Saint Walburge Parish, Antwerp. She did not marry.
(15) Anne, daughter of Marie Guddens, baptized 21 Jan 1605 Parish of Saint Walburge, Antwerp and died by March 1606.

(6) Mariken "Maria" MELYN was born 1637 and was baptized at Nieueve Kerk, Amsterdam. She married first in 1655 to Claes Allertson Paradijs who was murdered the same year in the Indian Massacre on Staten Island. She had a posthumus son by this marriage. She married next 26 Aug 1664 Essex, NJ to Matthias HATFIELD.

(11) Isaac MELYN (2) baptized 22 Jul 1646 New Amsterdam. He married to Dorothea SAMSON and Temperance LOVERIDGE.
