THE QUAKER CROASDALE FAMILY
(1) Thomas CROASDALE born about 1644. He married May 1664 to Agnes HATHORNTHWAITE, the daughter of William Hathornthwaite of Lancashire. Thomas Croasdale came to America with his wife and six children on the ship Lamb of Liverpool. They loaded 26 Jun 1682 and arrived 22 Oct 1682. This was one of several ships bringing Quakers to Penn's Colony that year. The Croasdale family settled at Middletown, Bucks Co., PA. Thomas was buried 2 2nd month 1682/3 a scant six months after their arrival. His widow survived less than two years and was also buried 20 8th month 1684 at Middletown, Bucks Co., PA.
(2) Ezekiel CROASDALE, of Shipley (Brighouse Meeting), died 11 3rd month 1708, aged 63.
(3) William CROASDALE of Bradford, died 4 9th month 1691 and was buried at Bradford 7 9th month 1691. His wife was named Grace and she died 24 7th month 1679. They were the parents of Ezra (1655-1740) who came to Bucks Co., PA in 1683, m. Ann Peacock; Martha b. 1657, m. John Hird; Jeremiah (1659); Sarah (1661); William (1664); John (1666); and Hannah (1668).
(4) ? Mary CROASDALE of Bradford, m. Hugh JACKSON of Bradford, 16 11th month 1675.
(1) William CROASDALE born 7 12th month 1664 at Yorkshire. He married 10 2nd month 1690 at Neshaminy Meeting House, Bucks Co., PA to Elizabeth HAYHURST (1669-1691), the daughter of Cuthbert Hayhurst and Mary Rudd. He married second 5 8th month 1698 Falls Monthly Meeting, Bucks Co., PA to Sarah WILSFORD. William made his will 30 1st month 1715 Bristol, Bucks Co., PA and died 3 2nd month 1715.
(2) John CROASDALE born 11 5th month 1666/7 at Yorkshire. He died about 12th month 1707 in Bucks Co., PA. He married Marah CHAPMAN, daughter of John and Jane CHAPMAN. Marah's will was made 8 5th month 1746 at Middletown, Bucks Co., PA and proved 21 Oct 1747. He second husband was John WILDMAN who died in 1739.
(3) Elizabeth CROASDALE born 5 11m 1666/7 Yorkshire and was buried 4 6th month 1683. She was unmarried.
(4) Mary CROASDALE born 30 8th month 1669 Newah, Yorkshire. She married 7th month 1690 at the house of John Chapman at Middletown, Bucks Co., PA to William SMITH who died in 1743.
(5) Bridget CROASDALE born 30 6th month 1671 Newah, Yorkshire. She died 26 2nd month 1701 Middletown Monthly Meeting, PA. She married 19 8th month 1693 at Neshaminy, Middletown Monthly Meeting, Bucks Co., PA to John COWGILL (1665-1731). He married next in 1704 to Rachel Baker Bunting, the widow of Job Bunting and daughter of Henry Baker.
(6) Alice CROASDALE born 3 8th month 1673. She married 22 1st month 1693 Middletown Monthly Meeting, Bucks Co., PA to David POTTS of Philadelphia. He was born about 1670 in Wales and died 16 11th month 1730.
