King George II Synopsis:

With wicked wit "King George II" puts the George Bush father-son presidencies into a Shakespearean framework; the author of "MacBird" called it "psychologically brilliant" after seeing its premiere in Greenwich Village. From the first scene, with three Bush men as witches around a boiling cauldron, it's clear the Bard's tragedies are a fine fit for this present-day political dynasty.

The play opens in Florida in brother Jeb's princely palace in November 2000.  The first act relates the turmoil around George, Prince of Texas and Albert, Prince of Tennessee, after their tied race for king.  Straight-laced Albert hoped to rule the land after King William, but for George II, it's all very personal -- avenging his father's loss to King William is uppermost on his mind.  Family advisors Lord Cheney and Lord Jim Baker arrive at the palace to plot the best way for the younger George to take the throne.

The second act opens on Sept. 11, 2001.  As George II flies aimlessly aboard Air Force One, it is clear who will pay for that day: a villain his father failed to vanquish on his watch.
