Srta Trejo-Cantwell Bio

I teach high school and middle school Spanish level 1 at Parker School in Waimea, Hawaii (Big Island). I earned my BA in Spanish and Latin American Studies in 1995 from UC Berkeley. Between 1995-7 I travelled extensively throughout Central America and Western Europe. I returned to UC Berkeley in 1997 and earned an MA in Hispanic Languages and Literatures. In 2000 I moved to Los Angeles and began a teaching career at Crescenta Valley High School in La Crescenta, CA. During my three years at CV I also earned a CA single subject CLEAR & CLAD credential from Cal State LA. In July of 2003 I moved to Waimea and taught Spanish 1 at Kealakehe High School for the fall semester. I worked as a long term Spanish substitute at HPA in January of 2004 teaching Spanish 1,3,and 4-5. This August I will begin my first year of teaching Spanish at Parker School.

I like to hike, swim and bike.I have hiked the John Muir trail several times. I have also completed several three-week long hiking trips in the French and Swiss Alps. I'm a member of the HPA masters swim club in Waimea. While it has been a while since I've done any serious long distance riding (a 1997 3 month 2500 mile journey from CA to Colorado via some national parks), I have enjoyed many rides from Kawaihae to Hawi. I completed my first olympic distance triathlon this past April (Lavaman) and had such a great time that I competed in the Honu triathlon in May. I've enjoyed a summer of open ocean water races with my colleagues from the Masters swim team and look forward to possibly completing my first marathon this December.
