                           CVMG Saskatchewan Section News
                                           Nov. 20, 2008

We're Back! After several years of inactivity, the Saskatchewan Section is back in business. New member Shaun May took the initiative to remedy the situation and invited all of the Saskatchewan members to a Fall Section meeting. The luncheon meeting was held at the Osler Restaurant on November 8, 2008. Osler is Shaun's hometown and is located about 50 km north of Saskatoon.
The turnout was surprisingly good with fourteen members and soon-to-be members attending. This bodes well for the future of the Section, as enthusiasm for old bikes and new CVMG activities was high. The bulk of the members were from Saskatoon but we had two members drive in from Moose Jaw, one from Biggar and several from towns in the area. One Saskatoon member who was foolish enough to brave the zero degree windy weather drove up on his bike, demonstrating to the attendees what a walking Popsicle looks like!

After a hearty meal, future events were discussed and Section officers elected. Mover and shaker Shaun May was unanimously elected President, Dennis Dyck is our Treasurer and Orville Olm is Secretary.
Although the Saskatchewan Section was not officially active in 2008, CVMG members attended the following events:

Osler BarBQ, June 21, 2008
A report on this event was featured in the August issue of the CVMG News.

Biggar Classic Bike Rally, August 1-3, 2008
Good weather prevailed all three days and attendance to this popular event was excellent with bikers from all the Prairie Provinces showing up. This year's theme was Italian bikes and a good number were on hand. I counted over thirty-five bikes of all makes at the show & shine on Sunday.

Moose Jaw Motorcycle Show and Shine, August 16, 2008
This event is sponsored by the Western Development Museum with the proceeds going to the Ride For Sight organization to help fund vision research. The Museum's theme is Transportation so the bike event really fits. The weather was first class and what could be better than a nice ride from Saskatoon, bikes of all vintages, a tour through the museum and the beer garden.

The 'rejuvenated' Saskatchewan Section is looking forward to an eventful year in 2009 and beyond. If our last meeting is an indication, we'll have many new members with a keen interest in vintage bikes to add to the CVMG roster.... and by the way, the "walking Popsicle" was no other than the new Secretary whose chattering teeth must have been interpreted as a "yes" when volunteers were summoned.
