We put our tents up on the top of a hill, at the edge of a forest, with a gentle breeze blowing over us.

After lunch was free time. Many of the people went fishing, while others took walks in the woods. Several of the other dads and I took a contingent to the beach.

The Holly Recreation Area Organization Campsite
Last Saturday a dozen Cubs and their dads got together at Holly Recreation area. This 7800 acre park is only about an hour from home. The Cubs and their dads started arriving around 10 am on Saturday and setup camp.
Eventually we got together again for dinner. On the menu were hot dogs cooked over the fire and beans. But the big hit were the Somemores for desert.
Actually, the other guys are helping Larry thread a tent pole into a sleeve on their tent.  They are not just standing around watching...
Somemores are made from a toasted marshmellow between two graham crackers with a chunk of milk chocolate.
As it got dark and cooled off, the fire was warm and everyone enjoyed sitting around it.
After everything was set up, it was time to kick back and enjoy one of the more popular forms of relaxation of the weekend: lounging. This came in second only to walking in the woods.
Some traditions never change - The Campfire
Lounging around was high on everybody's list of priorities.
But eventually all of us got tired and headed for the sleeping bags. Some of us could not even make it that far! A good closure to a new advanture.
After everyone had arrived, there was lunch and a couple of very competitive rounds of Ultimate. This was a new game for most of the kids and the dads as well. The dads stayed in the endzone, while the Cubs took the field. (Sorry, no pictures. I was too busy playing!)
