EXPEDITION TO BLACK BOY'S KNOB

To check out the proposed venue "Black Boy's Nob", me and Barnsey decided to arrange an expedition to this marvellous place to view the sights and sounds of the local area and see if it is suitable for such an event. We took our cameras and Barnseys mum's car and since we "just happened to be in the area!" dropped in on simon (the first people ever to achieve this). Once having purchased a lemon slice from the Meadows Bakery we were all set for our journey into the unknown.

We were severly dissapointed to find that the roads to BBN were actually drivable and didnt involve 4wd-ing in any way. When we got there, after attempting to speak to a local in our limited yokel dialect, we were again dissapointed to find that BBN was on private propert. Sorry guys..we'll have to mount Black Boy's Nob another time.

So...another venue had to be found and so after visiting the info center we found a suitable one in Kyeema Conservation Park. Unfortunately no photos were taken because we had better things to do...like getting Barseys mum's car stuck in the mud!! Thats Right! After finding a venue we thought it would be fun if we took the car through some harmless mud puddles....or so we thought!!

We spent 5 mins or so trying to get the car unbogged, but with no succes. The thing was stuck....worrying about what Barnsey's mum would say, we tried everything.

Then...Simon found a huge branch and with some primative yokel leverage technology and numerous attemps we eventually succeeded in freeing the vehicle. In the process...me and Simon were somewhat splattered with mud from the spinning wheels.

After 10 mins or so the ordeal was finally over. We were getting worried for a while, everyone we tried to wave to to help us simply waved back. Supplies of lemon slice were not exactly unlimited either. The car was absolutely covered in mud and the puddle was all churned-up. However we were absolutely stoked!! We had survived unscathed, yet rather muddy.

The drive home was somewhat cheery, despite the new blindspot... We had faced the dissapointment of Black Boy's Nob, yet had experienced this minor episode instead. The plans for our next planned outing have been diverted from BBN to the very nice Kyeema camping ground. The place is pretty good...nice and isolated, with no possible noise complaints. The area is pretty open, but there are some trees and a creek nearby. The place is an official camping groud, yet was completely deserted. I hope u arent afraid of cows! Other venues such as rocky creek near simons place had rather odd signage, which deterred us from going there.
