Here's something I've been wanting to build for a long time. From research I've found that the Army in WWII had two sizes of regular (doghouse) stlye tents in small and large. This is the small version which measures in real life 9'H/10'W/10'L (so in 1/6th scale 18"H/20"W/20"L). It was very hard to find information or pictures of these tents, but I think I got most of it right. Features of the tent include two flaps in back that can each be rolled up and tied off. On the sides, the roof extends down to an overhang whch holds gromets for the eight adjustable guy lines. Then there's two tent poles front and rear which are conected at the top by a stabilizer pole that runs the roofline. (I'm pretty sure the real tents must have had the stabilizer pole, but it probably looked a little different. Also extra guy lines can be attached to the front and rear poles if wanted. I made that optional sense in reference photos I've seen most tents don't have the lines attached but ocasionally some do, go figure. |
