DIORAMAS
RESOURCES
These are the climbing spurs and belt that I made for my Telephone Lineman figure.  More can be seen of this figure in the Diorama section.  As you can see the cool feature about these items is that they really work.  The spurs are very sharp, and the belt has a good amount of friction to keep the figure from sliding around too much.  Now I just wish I just had a live 1/6th scale man to demonstrate it for me, he he!  I guess that's something I'm going to have to work on one day.

Overall these weren't too hard to make.  The spurs are long flat sections of brass bent to shape, which I then soldered on some metal bits for the straps to go through.  The hard part was making the spur tip.  It had to be made of strong metal so it wouldn't bend, so I ended up heating up a nail till it was red hot and pounded it flat till it was the right thickness (got to love that 1/6th blacksmithing!).  Next it was bent and filed to shape and rivited with pins to the brass bracket.  Finally the belt is a thick section of leather with a working dual pin buckle.
