| This is a diorama of small company headquarters set in Normandy France shortly after D-Day. I constructed this project for the 2002 SSRG contest. The story is that some reserve troops are waiting in line for morning chow, while at left they get a visit form the colonel. The troops in the line are discussing the goings on. Meanwhile, the cook is giving a hand-out to a local farm dog. I constructed quite a few different items for this diorama which can be seen in detail in the U.S. Gear section. Heres a list of whats mainly been done: 1. Sewed together a GP Small army tent. (Accurate in design, and dimensions, 9x10x10) 2. Constructed a BD-71 switchboard from sheet styrene, brass, and a whole lot of pins! 3. Also made the accompanying headset/microphone set. 4. Fabricated small field cooking stove. Fed from gasoline from an upturned jerry can, this stove could be used for a group of 30 men. 5. Botched together all the supplies that go with the stove, Oatmeal with boxes, eggs with package, bread, etc. 6. Set up two of Hasbros Bivouac tents (used here to dry clothes) 7. The sandbags are handmade form another project. 8. Inside the tent are a custom chair, table, crate, cot, and two folding camp chairs. 9. The radio on the trunk is a casted SCR-610 radio (next to Hasbro AA gun). 10. Yup, also made the tree, and the grass is a model railroad product. |
