My 1971 Skylark Custom Convertible

The above pictures represent the car's present condition. The first order of business was to have the car repainted, replace the convertible top and get some new tires and rims. The car had just been painted and the tires and rims put on when these pics were taken. Since then a new top has been put on complete with a rear glass window. The stock 350 2bbl with a single stock exhaust has also been replaced by a custom made Dual Exhaust courtesy of AC Automotive with headers from Poston Enterprises. and DynoMax Super Turbo's into mandrel bent 2.5 inch pipes.

The original factory TH350 Transmission has been rebuilt and a B&M Shift Improvement Kit installed along with a Poston 350-114 Cam which has 214 and 218 degrees duration at .050 and a JW Performance 2500 Stall Converter. While I was at it I decided to go ahead and replace the factory iron Intake Manifold with the Aluminum S-Divider Intake Manifold designed by Jim Burek at PAE Enterprises also from Poston and switched from the stock Rochester Quadra-Jet to an Edelbrock 750 cfm Electric Choke Carb all of the Fuel and Carb Lines are custom bent stainless steel also by AC Automotive.

I replaced the stock rocker arms and shafts with assemblies from a 1972 GS did the valves, springs, seals and lifters. I then rebuilt the factory Distributor and installed an Igniter Distributor Kit, Flame Thrower Coil and new Plug Wires from Pertronix. The next step will be to finish the remainder of the engine rebuild after getting hold of an 8.5 Posi Rear and 3.73 Gear Set. After that I will start on the interior.
