This series of waterfalls is about a mile long and drops from just under 10,000 feet to around 8,700 in that distance. Imagine walking from the top of Wayne Hill to Munson Hospital. Now make Wayne Hill five times taller, and put a river down that. It's so steep that cars have to drive in a zig-zag route that takes about four or five miles to cover. |

Here is the Cusibamba Bridge over the Apurimac River. The Paruro River enters it just to the right of this picture, and the community of Cusibamba is on the opposite bank. We had lunch next to the bridge, but some little yellow flies started to bite us and we hadn't brought any bug spray so we headed back after only an hour or so here. |

Stanley and our nephew Brian Douglas (he's named after both me and Ashlee's dad) are posing on the new bridge. On the way back Stanley got tired, so he rode home on Chochito the hairless dog. Yep, that's right, Chocho has no hair, his skin is black. |
