The different neighborhoods put up dance teams that compete against one another.  There are several types of dances, this one is a Diablada.  They're wearing metal devil masks and horns.
Our neighborhood did a dance called Rey Moreno.  Our niece Raquel is in the girls' outfit, her mom Charro in the ladies pollera (skirt) and manton (shawl).
Stanley made friends with these kids, who were dancing Rey Moreno for another neighborhood.  Behind the girl you can see the heavy capes the men dancers wear.  We didn't dance because Puno is at 12,600 feet above sea level, and it was very hard for us to breathe.
As part of our responsabilty as sponsors of the Cacharpari we had to cook for all the dancers and band members in this picture and their friends and family.  That included 5 roast pigs, 100 pounds of potatoes, 500 stuffed peppers, 80 cases of beer and 15 cases of pop.  No caterers, we cooked it all ourselves.
