Fun Trivia-
* This was the last disney feature to be painted by hand.
* The storm scene took 10 special effects artist over a year to create.
* Ariel's Treasure grotto includes the painting "Magdalene With the Smoking
flame."
*In the opening scene when King Triton arrives in the arena you can
see Mickey, Goofy and Donald as merman when he passes
over them.
* The Character Ursula was based on the actor 'Divine'
*The english text of the contract Ursula gives Ariel is, "I hereby Grant
Ursula, the Witch of the Sea....., one voice, in exchange for
byon once high......for all eternity signed..."
Goofs in the movie-
* Just before Eric uncovers the statue, the shirt of the sailor changes color
behind him.
*When Ariel is laying down on the bed in Prince Eric's castle for the first time
she lays on top of the covers. There is a cut to Sebastian talking,
then a cut to Ariel asleep under the covers.
* Before jumping off the dock to swim to the wedding ship, Ariel is barefoot.
When she arrives on the boat she is wearing shoes.
* After Sebastian discovers Ariel's grotto and gets tangled up in various things,
he has a thimble on his feet, In one shot it isn't there, but it
appears when he starts removing all the items.
* When Ursula is on the wedding ship looking into the mirror, she cracks a
round crystal ball. However that ball wasn't there in the previous
scene.
* When King Triton destroys Ariel's statue, the face cracks, but when Ariel
holds the face in her hand it is undamaged.
* When Ariel and flounder escape from the shark, Ariel has a bag over her
shoulder. But when Ursula looks on, the bag is gone.
* When Ursula transforms back into herself at the end and takes Ariel back in
the sea Ariel is wearing a dress. But when they are shown in the
sea the dress is gone.
* When Ariel sings "part of your world" she lays on the sand and when she
gets up her hair is parted to a different side. Then all of a sudden
it is parted on the left side.
* At the end of the movie the rainbow is shown with the correct colors but the
order is inverted.
* The trim on Ariel's wedding dress goes from green to pink, then back to
green and stays that way.
* When Ariel first enters her grotto she closes the door, but when she leaves
the door is open.
* When Ariel is eating with Grim and Eric her fork changes back and forth
from a 3 prong fork to a 4 prong fork.
* When Ariel is spying on Eric, Max licks the right side of her face. Moments
later she wipes the left side of her face.
