Let Modding Commence
From the day I got the car I said I was not going to modify it in any way, I said its nice the way it is and its going to stay like that. Ha !!, who was I kidding?
Within 24 hours of owning my new pride and joy, it received a set of clear side repeaters to match the front indicators. It stayed like that for around a year until I decided I wanted bigger wheels.
While I was on the hunt for wheels I debadged the boot of the car and covered the SEAT Ibiza badges in the inserts on the red reflective strip between the rear lights with some black vinyl, and added a new style Cupra badge under the offside tail light.
The wheels I finaly chose were 17" Allessio Turbo's. I went to a local car accessory store were my mate worked. He had a set in stock with tyres, in the right fitment for my car.
It must have been destiny, well not quite.
I went back a week later to buy them and I was told they had been sold, I was gutted. Steve, my mate, took me through the back of the shop where they kept all the stock and pointed out 4 rather large boxes and said "go and have a look at them". On the box it said Allessio Turbo 8x18. Steve said my face was a picture, he reckons my eyes lit up like a kid at Christmas. Our only concern was that the car would not take 18's and allow lowering.
Steve said they did not have tyres in stock for the wheels but he would make a phone call to see if he could get them that day. When he came off the phone he said "come on, we're off to get you some tyres". It took 4 of us to squeeze the 215/35 rubber on to the 8" wide wheels and when we put them on the car everyone stood around and said "it aint gonna move when it comes off the ramp".
The fronts were no problem but the rear tyres caught the side sills and rear bumper. When the car was lowered off the ramp the wheels raised nicely into the arches and cleared the problem areas. Now was the time for the moment of truth !!! A road Test.
