Starting with Roswell the subject never seems to go away and with good reason. 60 years later we are just as intrigued by the line drawn in the sand of myth and legend versus reality regarding the subject of whether there was an extra-terrestrial crash landing of a disc shaped object including the recovery of Extra Terrestrial Biological Entities or EBE�s as they are known. There is also the claim that one of the EBE�s survived. Before we start rolling our eyes around and say �here we go again� lets take a look at this from another perspective using a different location. In 1952 there were numerous UFOs sighted over Washington DC. So many that a young man by the name of Donald Ware became a MUFON director and his comments are duly noted in Michael Lindemann�s book �UFO�s and the Alien Presence: Six Viewpoints.� What most people don�t know is that Washington DC is a HOTBED of UFO activity with over 200 documented sightings from 1850 to 2007. The recent book �Close Encounters on Capitol Hill� by Robert Stanley gives an excellent look into the aspect of what is taking place regarding the nations capitol and airspace. Mr. Allen is not your average photographer nor individual. By the age of 26 he was working for ABC news earning $150,000 a year. He has a Masters degree in imaging technology engineering and worked for ABC from 1982-2002 as a senior network engineer. He also worked extensively at the White House and on Air Force One during the Ronald Reagan, George Bush and Bill Clinton administrations. He left his job at ABC to take care of his father who was suffering from the effects of Agent Orange. It says a lot about his work ethic and character. Mr. Allen grew up on military bases and publicly has stated his first ET contact was in 1962. He stated he was held back for four years in hi schooling as a child when he told his teachers about the ET�s he saw. He used much stronger language to describe this time in his life. There is no doubt this was a bitter life experience for him. Mr. Allen told me some of his story one on one in April of 2007 after I had attended a recent UFO meeting. His comments mirror what the book by Robert Stanley says about him. At times he spoke far above my head. At times I asked him to bring it down to my level. Before we parted ways he left me with a thought and I felt this was an extraordinary chance meeting with a man I have come to respect and admire. He said to me as he reflected about being held back in school because of his encounters with ET�s as a child: �Some day I am going to go back to those people who held me back in my life and show them my education and what I accomplished�. Mr. Allen has done so much already. He doesn�t need to prove anything to anyone in my opinion, yet I can understand from my own personal life experiences exactly the way he feels. I wish him well on his journey. As I reflect on my conversation there are times when you feel small. I believe I was a witness to a chance encounter �made in the heavens�. I couldn�t put my finger on what the odds are of meeting someone with an �out of this world story to tell� like Mr. Allen. I do know this: I feel an obligation to capture the reality of such an important moment. I have related this story because in its purity and simplicity is what is also wrong when we are held back in our lives by forces we cannot comprehend nor understand-but one day maybe�we will have the power to change the effect these forces have on our lives. |
