May 31, 2006 Cumberland Supervisors signed a Host Agreement with Cumberland Country Development Company, LLC (A wholly owed subsidiary of Allied Waste North America,Inc) to create a Host Land Fill. The proposed site of the landfill is in District 2.
Initially, the Land Fill will accept Waste from Washington, D. C., Maryland, and Virginia with the option of adding Waste from North Carolina in the future.
