Mugging it Up!
In episodes of The Bill that are currently being seen in the UK - episodes that are after the event I won't name for spoiler avoidance purposes - Cullen may be seen with a West Bromwich Albion coffee mug. Is this coincidental, given we know that Ged is a keen Baggie? No, definitely not - this is an actor-supplied prop. Its appearances have an ubiquitious, almost TREV-like quality so keep your eyes out for it. Details of 'mug spots' would be welcomed - email me at [email protected]. I can confirm that, yes, it is a WBA mug that Cullen is wielding at the moment (and in just about every episode until he leaves for pastures new). Ged Simmons, July 2002 It turns out that we are not the only people to notice our hero's mug: *The Unofficial West Brom site also mentions it in its celebrity fans section *Two newspapers have run articles about it - see Birmingham Evening Mail and The Express and Star. *Ged was interviewed about it on a Birmingham radio station on 16/8/02 *It featured on the Ask Esther page over at The Bill recently - Ron asks: As a West Bromwich Albion supporter, I was surprised to see one of he C.I.Ds drinking from an Albion mug. Have you any idea why an Albion mug was chosen I'm just curious. Naturally I'm an even bigger fan than ever, hope you can indulge one very sad pensioner!! Thank you. Esther: Yes it is a West Brom cup, it was Ged's (D.I. Alex Cullen) very own that he brought in! [Hey, you read it here first, guys! ;-)] It is really has achieved celebrity status and us Australians look forward to getting to know it in due course. ;-)

Here is the mug itself in action, so to speak. Picture rescued from the old ep guides over at The Bill by the wonderful Shona.
As far as I have been able to find out Ged/Cullen's navy blue mug is not still made - certainly it isn't available through the WBA website's shop. This, however, appears to be it in reverse.
