HUGE  SPOILER WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ged Simmons filmed his last scene as DI Alex Cullen on the 10th of April 2002 so the Cullen Campaign is officially  over.  Obviously we didn't win as Cullen was written out and Ged was axed but on the positive side Ged got a lot of support in his last few weeks, which he appreciated, and Paul Marquess for once heard something from fans.

This seems an appropriate spot to include a little bit of info about Ged/Cullen's last ep/last day.   It's not uncommon due to filming schedules for an actor to film his character's last scene well before he leaves and for the last scene he films to be something else entirely but coincidentally Ged and Cullen's last scene were the one and the same.  It was filmed in a pub and afterwards Natlaie Roles (Debbie) presented him with a bunch of flowers and a bottle of good Irish whiskey from everyone.  That evening Ged went for a few drinks with various members of the cast and crew.  As he said in his previous e-mail he's not devastated as he feels this may be a good time, career-wise, to leave.  He has a lot more experience as a TV actor and a bit more of a name but hasn't been stereotyped yet.  Ged's off for a week in the sunshine scuba-diving now,and then he's going to spend some time redecorating his flat and seeing what is around.

Of course it never hurts to make sure that people in the industry know that an actor has fans so feel free to keep writing to Paul Marquess and either let him know how much you miss Cullen/Ged or how much you're enjoying watching him.

Address your letters to:
Paul Marquess
Executive Producer,
The Bill
Freemantle Media
Bosun House,
1 Deer Park Road,
Merton, London

UK

Try to make your letters look as professional as possible on the outside so they are more likely to be opened and not just dismissed as fan stuff - business type envelope, typing if possible.

What do you put in your letter?  Again that's up to you but here are some suggestions (largely borrowed from other fandoms)
*BE POLITE - really important
*Try to be positive
*Say that you like Cullen/Ged - mention why, discuss him briefly (no-one is going to read too long a letter, betcha)
*Tell him how you feel about Cullen going.
*If you can say something nice about the show's new direction then I'd say go for it.

All right - why are we doing this?  I'd love to believe that they would change their minds but I'm a realist and I do doubt it - still miracles do happen.  Realistically what might we achieve?
*maybe a last good story or two
*maybe a guest appearance one day
*letting Paul know how we feel
*giving Ged a nice send off because if a few letters do arrive then I'm sure he will hear about it - this would also be a great time to write to him and tell him what a great character we think Cullen is.  It might be a nice sop after being dumped by the show.

Other suggestions would be to :
*Keep talking about Cullen/Ged on the Forum
*write to Oz/UK magazines about Cullen
