What is Rush?

Rush is a time for girls who are interested in joining a sorority to come out to meet and get to know the sisters while receiving mroe information about aKDPhi. Rush events are all about meeting people, learning about our sorority, and having fun!  Rush events are free, and open to everyone - attending an event in no way obligates you to join.

Common Sorority Myths and Concerns

"Sororities are for party girls"
"You have to live in a sorority house"
"You have to pay extremely high dues to be a member"
"Pledging will affect my grades"

Partying is a common stereotype of the Greek system.  Every sister has her own personality and lifestyle, and for many, partying is not a priority.  Our sorority is unique in that it does not have a house; some girls end up living with other sisters on campus or in Collegetown, but others continue living with friends outside of the sorority.  Living in a house does not constitute being in a sorority.  In fact, our dues are most likely the lowest of any Greek organization because we do not own a house.  And as students of Cornell, the academic demands of Cornell are a priority in our lives.  Therefore, as sisters, we also strive for academic excellence.  We do have a minimum GPA to pledge and expect girls to prioritize their time to achieving those standards.  Our sisters' high GPAs and our successful alumni are an indication of our continuous dedication to our education.

Come to a rush information session to learn what being a part of aKDPhi is REALLY about.
