U.S. CLASSIC NEWS

THANKS TO NBCOYLIMPICS.COM FOR THIS MESSAGE OF DOM,ABOUT HOW DOES SHE FEEL IN THE CLASSICS, THANKS CARLOS.

NOTE: Dominique Moceanu competed for the first time in almost two years July 8 at the U.S. Classic in Tulsa, Okla. Her sixth-place performance there qualified her for the U.S. Gymnastics Championships, which will be held July 26-29 in St. Louis.

Heading in to the U.S. Classic, I felt pretty well-prepared. We had been practicing a lot, having intersquads at the gym. I felt like my routines had been going really well.
When I first walked into the arena, I looked over to (coach) Mary Lee (Tracy) and was like, Its been a long time. It felt kind of weird at first, but it was a good weird. It was, It has been two years since I competed, and now Im finally back.
It just felt like home again, competing. Ive overcome a lot over the last couple years, so it felt good just to go out there.
I was in second place after the first two rotations, vault and bars. I could have been up there in the top three, for sure, if I hadnt messed up my beam.
I came back pretty strong after that on floor. I had a little out-of-bounds mistake. But overall it was a pretty good performance. Im glad everything went the way it did. If I had come back and did perfect, my first meet, where would I go from there, you know (laughs)?
