CHAPTER 5 Searching Part 2

So when was the last time any of you saw her? Asked the sheriff. He had blatantly refused to go to the house so the girls had to go into town to the Sheriffs office. I was the last to she her, said Cherie. We share the same room. I was reading a book and I started to feel tired. I looked at the clock and it was 1:30am. I looked over at Michelle and she was fast asleep. The next thing I know, Brandi was screaming and I went to go and see what was wrong. I saw Michelle wasnt in her bed. Her sheets were hanging out of the door so I did a quick search of the house but she wasnt there. We all had a look after that but there was still no sign of her. Im sure she didnt go far. Maybe she went out for a late night walk and fell asleep somewhere. If she doesnt call or come back by tomorrow morning then come and find me. People are always doing that around here, said the Sheriff. But we know Michelle! Brittany said. She wouldnt go anywhere without telling any of us. Good day ladies, said the Sheriff then went out the door into the street.

The girls went home. Some help he was, said Mira. Im gonna call the proper police. Theyll be able to do something. Mira phoned them then put the phone down. They are going to send a few people out tomorrow morning. They cant do anything until after twenty-four hours. All we can do now is sit and wait, she addressed the others. I cant sit and wait! said Brandi. One of my best friends is out there somewhere, possibly in some kind of trouble. I cant just sit here and wait for something really bad to happen. I just want to find her then get the hell out of this place! Brandi runs out the back door and over the field. She runs through the trees and ends up at the lake. She climbed onto the boat and untied it from the jetty. The boat started to drift into the middle of the lake. There Brandi sat for the rest of the day. At nightfall Brandi climbed onto the deck. The moon was behind the clouds and all she could see was darkness. The darkness enveloped her. It was cold and made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. She could either run to the house or stay in the boat all night. She made up her mind and went below deck to get her mobile phone. She searched through her phonebook and found Celestes number. Are you alright Brandi? Celeste asked as soon as she answered. Yes Im fine, replied Brandi. Listen. Im on the boat. Its so dark outside and I cant see a thing. Im gonna stay here for the night. Are you sure youll be alright on your own? Yes. Ive locked the doors to the deck. Im in the middle of the lake. I should be fine. Ok. Ill keep my phone switched on tonight. Call me whenever you want to ok? Ok. Cya in the morning.

Brandi tossed and turned in her sleep. Her brain was in hyper mode tonight. She didnt want to have another dream but it was out of her control

Brandi walked up to the house. The sun was shining brighter then ever. She climbed up onto the porch. She noticed the door was ajar. She knew nobody would ever leave it like that. She pushed the door open. The house was silent. This confused Brandi because it was 11:30am and with so many people in the house it was never quiet. Hello? She called out. There was no answer. She climbed up the stairs to the first floor. Hello? she called again. Are any of you here? She half expected all the other girls to jump out and say boo! but the other half was telling her otherwise. She wanted to get out of the house but something was pulling her towards Hollie and Miras bedroom. The door was shut. She put her hand on the door handle, not wanting to see what was behind it. The force that pulled her towards the room was now forcing her hand to turn the handle. The door swung open and Brandi closed her eyes. After a few moments she opened one eye and peeked into the room. She opened her other eye then looked around. The sun was filtering in the window and lit the room up. Nothing was out of place. She saw a piece of paper lying on the floor in the middle of the room. She picked it up. One word burned through the paper: Upstairs. The force was dragging her again. The next thing she knew, Brandi was opening the door to Claire and Brittanys room on the second floor. The room was dark and cold. The curtains were pulled across the window, the only light coming from the open door Brandi was stood against. She looked on the floor and there was a big pool of blood. It seemed to be spreading quickly. Still staring at the blood she felt the wall for the light switch. She found it and turned the lights on. She looked around the room and screamed. There was blood splattered everywhere. There were slashes of it on the walls and ceiling. She so desperately wanted to run but she was frozen to the spot. She noticed both the beds were put together to make one big bed and the sheets were stirring. The sheets looked like they were being pulled back by a pair of invisible hands. What Brandi saw next made her want to be sick in reality. Anna, Mira and Michelle were lying on the bed. At least it looked like them. Their body parts were all over the place. Miras head was sitting on top of a disembodied arm. Brandi turned and started running down the stairs. When she got to the ground floor she bumped into the old man she had seen in her previous dreams. He had his axe in his hand, which was covered in bright red blood. Brandi screamed and the old man started laughing hysterically

Brandi could still hear the laughter when she woke up. Faint but vivid. She turned on the lights and looked at her watch, 3am. It was still dark but the moon had come out. She couldnt shake off the terrible images so she picked up her phone. She found Celestes number and called it. Hello? came a sleepy voice. Celeste? Its me. I just had a really horrible dream and it really scared me. Celeste Im scar- Brandi stopped short. She could hear laughing on the other end of the line. It sounded like it was in the house but not in the room with Celeste. Brandi heard Celeste scream then the line went dead.
