Lucas Terrier Scrapbook

In 1987 Mrs Jane Irwin published two articles regarding the Lucas terrier and was inundated with requests for information and puppy enquiries. In an attempt to meet the demand she mated her Sealyham bitch, Miss Snowie to a black and tan Champion Norfolk dog called Ch Newthatch Black Pepper. Irwin's Brutus, above, and Irwin's Miss Matty, below, were two of the puppies from that litter. Brutus went to Southern Ireland and Matty to Devon. Neither were bred from. A bitch was sent to Southern Ireland with the intention of mating her to Brutus when she was old enough but she was found to have reproductive problems. Matty was spayed because she lived with male Irish Wolfhounds. This litter was born on 7th August 1989.
