Pack 421 has earned the Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Commission Youth Organization Award for two consecutive years, 1999 and 2000, an honorable mention in 2001, and once again earned the award in 2002, 2003 and 2004. This award is given to a group, which has consistently worked to help improve the quality of the environment in the City of Chesapeake. This includes participating in projects sponsored by the C.E.I.C., and the group's individual projects.
Pack 421 has earned the B.S.A. Quality Unit Award in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. A unit earns this award based on its leadership, community service, and individual scouting program. We have earned the B.S.A. National Summertime Pack Award ribbon in 2001, 2002, and 2004. This award is given to Cub Scout Packs who have a strong summer program of activities for their members. We also have Certificates of Appreciation from Girl Scout Group 5123 our sister unit for including them in many of our activities.
Pack 421 has been recognized on local Radio Station 106.9 Fox & Television channels 48, 10, 3, 13, & 43 for our participation in several community events: The Mayflower Food Drive, The Opening of the South Norfolk Pediatric Center, Chesapeake Extreme Clean, and Clean the Bay Days.
Our Leadership has also been recognized for outstanding service. Our Committee Chair, Donna Bennett, Cub Master, Chris Bennett, and Committee Member, Luann Palmer have been recognized for their skills and leadership. They have organized and headed the B.S.A. Popcorn Fundraiser for the Elizabeth River District in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004. Our Committee Chair, Donna Bennett received the prestigious Scouter of the Year Award for 2001.
