Earning the Bear Badge

The Bear rank is for boys who have completed second grade (or are age 9). There are 24 Bear achievements in four categories. The Cub Scout must complete 12 of these to earn the Bear badge. These requirements are somewhat more difficult and challenging than those for Wolf rank. In addition, Arrow Points are awarded for work done on a multitude of Electives. Belt loops and pins can also be earned for sports and academic accomplishments.

The Parts of the Uniform

Bear Cub Scouts should continue to wear the blue uniform they wore as a Wolf Scout. You may upgrade to the Bear Scout hat or you can choose to continue to wear the Wolf cap. You and your family decide which one you will wear. With either basic uniform, Bear Scouts wear the Bear neckerchief, the Cub neckerchief slide, and the Cub belt .
