We arrive at the Ontario Science Center around 9 in the morning for regestration, as well as to scout out the area.  We also got to pick up our promo package!  A backpack, pin, name tag, a shiny cube and a 2003 RWC stand, very cool stuff!  After being questioned and setting up times for interviews and stuff we went and dressed up our cubes in fancy new outfits!  There was a room filled with stickers for your 3x3s 4x4s and 5x5s.
There I am sprucing up my cubes.  What a stud, and that tye dye shirt is very sexy, come on ladies you know you like it!
Ton is hard at work making sure his cube is in top performance for the competition!
<----  There are the stars of the show!  Looking good guys... lookin good!  I was reluctant at first to sticker my 5x5, it is a Bandelow 5x5, not a rubiks.com one (even though they are pretty much the same), but it was all good because i changed the color scheme to white yellow, it was white blue and I hate that!
After the sticker extravagansa someone was gonna give a powerpoint presentation on some cube stuff.  It was hard to listen to with everyone packed in the small room, and i was disapointed that i didnt get to see it, because the 5x5 competiters were called for cube inspection.

I was one of the first four to start off the tournament, and the first event was speedsolving the 5x5!  Up on stage with me was David Barr, and a set of twin brothers from Canada.   Each of us had to do 3 solves and I was aiming for 5:45 times.  My 3 times were, 5:32.25,  4:53.84,  and 4:45.35!  All 3 times below my goal!  YAY!!!  I was happy, and the two judges were really nice at my stand.  Nervousness was not a problem,  I prepared myself more for meeting people rather then competitng and that helped me not crack under the pressure.  My average time for the 5x5 was 5:03.81 and that landed me 7th place in the 5x5 category!
SMILE JAKE, YOU ARE ON STAGE!!!

The podiums were really cool, they look like giant cubes, but they are just giant boxes, and the sticker patern is impossible to solve :(
Look at me go!  It was almost too quiet in the room.  It would have been nice to have some music hehehe!
