Our
Cuban Fine Art Tours
If
you are an individual or a small group of people planning a visit
to Cuba, here we are to organize your Architecture and Art Tours
in Havana City.
The
Architecture Tour
We can show the most relevant of Cuban architecture by showing interesting
places in Old and modern Havana.
In Old Havana, the walking tour covers the four squares there are:
Plaza de Armas (Arms Square), Plaza de San Francisco de Asís
(Saint Francis Square), Plaza de la Catedral (Cathedral Square)
and Plaza Vieja (Old Square). All of are surrounded by significant
buildings, among them La Fuerza Castle, Museum of General Captains,
San Francisco de Asis convent and others. In Old Havana, the tour
will give you the idea of Havana City before 19th century. The tour
also includes visit to Model of Old Havana, which has an astonishing
replica of sunrises and sunsets in Old Havana.
The Modern Havana tour will take you to some important buildings
like University of Havana, Colon Cemetery, and some eclectic mansions
in El Vedado neighborhood, and you will take important avenues like
Prado Avenue, on the border between Old Havana and Centro Habana;
Paseo Avenue in El Vedado and 5th Avenue in Miramar neighborhood.
The
Old Havana tour is a walking tour, though for Modern Havana tour
you will need transportation. If you think your energy doesn't go
away so easily, we recommend you to take the Old Havana tour in
the morning and the modern Havana tour in the afternoon. Otherwise,
and if you are definitely interested in having both tours you could
set them for different days. As summertime in Cuba can be very hot,
we will set for you an air-conditioned transportation for the modern
Havana tour. For the Old Havana tour we can do nothing but recommend
a good bar where you can have a delicious and refreshing Cuban drink.
Architecture tours will be led by one of the prominent architects
Cuba counts on, being also professor at the Faculty of Architecture
in University of Havana.
The
Art tour
By taking this tour you can get to meet the most famous of Cuban
artists and also the new ones now emerging in the current Fine Arts
scene. Prominent Cuban painters, sculptors and photographers, despite
the fact of many awards or being internationally well-known can
be simple and extremely talkative with people they have not met
before. You could visit their galleries, studios, workshops and
even their houses, where most of them have set their exposition
and eventually you could buy some pieces of their work.
Usually
our Art Tours start in Old Havana, by visiting Nelson Dominguez's
gallery, Choco´s and others nearby. The San Francisco de Paula
Church is also visited, for there are plenty of masterpieces by
the most important Cuban artists. The church, that used to be a
maternity hospital, is now a concert hall and allows visitors to
enter at daylight to appreciate the works that has inside. After
that, we can turn to some other neighborhoods like El Vedado and/or
Miramar where some other artists have their houses/studios. We can
arrange visits to Cuban artists´ houses or studios according
to your interests, so the tour depends on what you would like to
see. Names like Tomás Sánchez, Wifredo Lam, Manuel
Mendive, Roberto Fabelo, Gilberto Frómeta, Juan Carlos Alom,
Zaida del Rio, Flora Fong, Adigio Benítez, Ever Fonseca,
Choco, Juan Moreira, Alicia Leal, KCho, José Villa and many
others will be very familiar to you after taking this tour.
Cuban art is so rich and diverse, that we count on you to tell us
where to guide you to serve you better. This Art tour is led by
a Cuban Art specialist, who has been involved for years in the work
of Cuban artists.
We
can also arrange for you a guided visit to the Fine Arts Museum,
where you will be explained about the different collections that
are exhibited in this very recently restored institution.
We
are flexible enough and we can adjust the Architecture and Art Tours
to your interests. Depending on how much you want to learn and how
much time or energy you want to spend on these tours. You can take
any of them without having the other necessarily.
Price
includes necessary transportation and will depend on how many people
you are, how many artists and places you would like to visit and
how many hours of the Art tour you would like to have.
So,
it´s up to you now to contact us and tell us what you would
like your tours to be like, and all the services you need, we are
open to your suggestions and willing to serve you in the best of
possible ways.
But,
if you only want to know about the best of Cuban Fine Arts but
have no idea of what to do, we´ll set everything up for
you.
You will be glad you did it!
